Physical benefits provided by the use of a Spa

Originally, showers were only used for hygienic purposes but nowadays jet stream massages and showers have become increasingly popular to relieve stress and relax. A shower can provide a gentle caress when you need it most. Either in the morning when you wake up or as a relaxing massage when you come home from work. Just add a sensual design and a variety of showering accessories and your plain old shower can turn into a very special moment. Putting an end to a long day in the privacy of your own household spa system is the best way to relax and make sure you’ll enjoy an all-repairing nightlong sleep.

Origin of the Word Spa

Some say that the origin of the word Spa comes from the Latin Acronym “salus per aquam”, which means health through water. According to the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) the term Spa refers to the thermal waters of the homonymous geographical location in Liege, Belgium, famous for its soothing waters during the roman times.
Nowadays a Spa is a place dedicated to relax and reinvigorate through the use of physical and spiritual therapy techniques. History shows us that by the year 25 AC the Romans would include hot and cold-water immersions, massages, and aromatherapy and vapor rooms as a fundamental routine when going to the thermal baths. Nowadays, many things have changed but the basic concepts founded by the Romans are still intact. Imagine how you will feel when you have the possibility of enjoying a relaxing bath at any time.
Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to create your own relaxation space in the comfort of your own household.

Tailor made shower systems by FV

Installing a shower system on your own involves many tasks. It will always be easy as long as you take the following into account:

  • The water pipes for the shower.
  • The master faucet or valve for each type of 3 or 4 piece key sets.
  • The drainage.
  • Hot water pipes.
  • The sprinklers and jets.
  • The 3 o 4 way deviation valves.
  • The work pressure.

At the same time your must also take into account some of the basic rules when it comes to installing a shower system:

1. Output pressure flow
The sum of all output devices (showers, jets, faucet, manual shower, etc.) should not exceed the maximum output pressure of the installed valve or shower set (single command, 2 or 3 piece set, thermostat, master keys, etc.)
If the number of output devices selected exceeds the total output pressure that the set or valve can withstand you may install another one in parallel. Do not use a “T” to supply cold or hot water to both sets, simply add a separate pipe from the main pipe distributing system.
The water flow can be controlled with the master keys, with 2 or 3 piece sets or thermostat sets of ½”. You will not be able to control sudden temperature changes in the case of master keys or sets but this will be possible with the thermostat sets. Using these, you’ll avoid any possibility of sudden changes in temperature, preventing burns or cool downs during your shower.
On the other hand, you must keep in mind that installing a ¾” thermostat sets will require a master output key to control temperature without affecting output pressure.

2. Output pressure drainage
Either one or two valve sets can create output drainage of over 30 liters per minute. Meaning that in five minutes you could have 150 liters of water that must be able to drain through the drainage. Its important to keep in mind that all installed sets must be set up so that they can receive and withstand the pressure and amount of water flowing from all the shower devices.
If necessary you can choose between having one large drainage or two smaller ones. You must also take into account how much water flow can be provided by the sanitary installation.

3. Hot water provisioning
Remember to verify if the hot water tank in your household installation can provide the amount of water you need for your shower system. The minimum requirement is usually a 190-liter hot water tank. We do not recommend the use of boilers or water heaters for these types of shower systems.

4. Water pressure
Water pressure is a critical factor when it comes to showering systems.
FV recommends the use of 3 kg/cm2 for a three or more device shower system. For showers 0130 and 0120.06 with jets, the recommended pressure is of 4 kg/cm2. Remember to always make sure how much water flow and pressure your shower will require. For example, a 40 l/min pressurized pump system and a 1,5 to 2 kg/cm2 output pressure will be enough for an overhead shower but not for a 5-piece shower device system. It’s always better to install the necessary pump instead of witnessing a deficient shower system.
Generally it will be enough to make the distribution and supply to each device with ½” pipes, but if the pipes are too long it can be done with ¾,” pipes. We recommend using curves instead of 90 degree angles in deviations.

5. Sprinklers or jets
To install several jets we recommend the use of a closed circuit supply piping system for a better distribution and balance of pressure, flow and temperature.
